The New York Giants have lost wide receiver Collin Johnson for the 2022 season. Johnson, who had been productive virtually every time he stepped on the field, tore his right Achilles tendon late in a standout training camp. The Giants placed Johnson on injured reserve Wednesday.
Johnson had 10 receptions in the first two preseason games and was expected to be a key contributor in the Giants' offense this season. The injury is a significant blow to the Giants, who are already thin at wide receiver. Sterling Shepard, another Giants wide receiver, is also on injured reserve.
Johnson, who told reporters he is already running on turf and excited about returning, is expected to make a full recovery. However, his absence will be felt by the Giants this season.
